(ANSA) - BELGRADE - Several Balkan regions remained on flood
alert on Wednesday as river levels remained high due to recent
heavy rainfall and snowmelt.
The situation was most critical in the Bosnia's Republika
Srpska, where media reported that the river Sava continued to
rise.
The situation was particularly difficult in the areas of
Gradiska and Kozarska Dubica, where dozens of homes have flooded
and people evacuated and where many roads have been closed.
Croatia also faced high water levels, while in Serbia the
Danube and Sava rivers remained under observation at their
confluence in Belgrade.
Meanwhile snow fell heavily in the two countries on
Wednesday, causing major disruptions to traffic in the Serbian
capital. (ANSA).
