Hahn is 'confident' on opening EU talks with Tirana-Skopje
Commissioner says States must respect their commitments

(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, OCTOBER 7 - European Commissioner for
Enlargement Johannes Hahn attended today a forum organized by
the Institute for European Regions (Ire). "I am confident that
the European Council will launch the opening of accession
negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia", he said.
Before passing his portfolio to a new commissioner, Hahn stressed how "important" it is "that both the Western Balkans and the European Union honor their commitments to the enlargement". "The Western Balkans - he added - must deliver economic and rule of law reforms in line with European standards. Likewise, the EU must acknowledge the progress" made by Albania and North Macedonia.
