Mogherini says Skopje-Athens deal should inspire all Europe
High Representative met Macedonian Defence Minister at Nato

(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, 14 FEB - EU High Representative Federica
Mogherini met today with the Defence Minister of North Macedonia
Radmila Sekerinska in Brussels, ahead of the NATO Defence
ministers' meeting. Athens and in Skopje reached a "courageous,
historic and really encouraging turning point that I believe can
inspire not only the Balkans, but all of Europe", EU High
Representative said.
The European Union has supported "all along the way" the negotiations between the two countries, Mogherini pointed out.
"I think it is remarkable how the leaders and the people of the countries both in Athens and in Skopje - have been working towards" "an excellent result", she explained, praising their "leadership" and "determination".
Last week, NATO allies signed the accession protocol paving way for Macedonia's membership over the next year. The Macedonian Defence Minister was invited to be in Brussels to attend the Ministerial meeting. "It's indeed an historical step", Mogherini added.
