(ANSA) - VILNIUS, JULY 6 - ''Si maritau Rosa''. Unscheduled moment with a classic of Sicilian song for the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella in Vilnius. In the main square of the city, after visiting the cathedral, the head of the state chanced upon a group of Sicilian tourists who greeted him in an affectionate way and then paid a tribute to their common origin, by starting to sing ''Si maritau Rosa''. This is how the president's state visit to the Baltic republics ended this morning. Mattarella laid a wreath at the Antakalnis cemetery, then he met a representative of the Italian community in Lithuania. ''The ties between Italy and Lithuania are very strong, significant, and they are becoming even stronger thanks to your presence, which is precious'', he said to the Italian representative.

Before leaving, the head of state visited the exhibition of Italian works staged at the ecclesiastical museum of the church of St. Michael the Archangel. At the end, he participated in the flag-raising ceremony at the presidential palace, which was the closing event of his five-day visit to the Baltic countries, where he met the leaders of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania.
