Romania: high GDP growth leads country to surpass Greece
Bucharest gets closer to Prague in terms of GDP size
14 May, 17:37According to Eurostat, in 2017 Romania had a GDP of EUR 187,8 billion, up from the EUR 169,7 in 2016, while Greece's GDP went up from EUR 174,1 billion in 2016 to 177,7 billion in 2017.
Romania and Greece share of the EU's GDP are both 1.2 percent.
Romania got also closer to the Czech Republic in terms of GDP size in 2017, with the Czech Republic registering a EUR 192 billion GDP. Eurostat noted that the over half of EU GDP was generated by Germany, the United Kingdom and France, while eleven Member States had a GDP of less than 1% of the EU total: Malta, Cyprus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Luxembourg, Slovakia and Hungary.
