(ANSA) - BRUXELLES, 5 SET - The two rapporteurs on Serbia and Kosovo for the European Parliament, David McAllister and Igor Soltes, met today with EU High Representative Federica Mogherini. They said that "a positive outcome" in the ongoing talks between Belgrade and Pristina "could unlock the path towards EU membership" and "would be a historical achievement".

The two lawmakers pointed out that the European Parliament is "fully committed" to provide all its "support". "We know how challenging these discussions can be", yet "reaching a comprehensive agreement is extremely important for the future of Kosovo and Serbia and for the stability of the whole of the Western Balkans," McAllister and Soltes wrote in a joint statement.

On Friday, 7th, Mogherini will host a new round of talks with the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic and the President of Kosovo Hashim Thaci, in Brussels. (ANSA).
