(ANSA) - PRISTINA, OCT. 25 - Kosovo security force (KSF) is
ready to become a real national army, said minister Rustem
Berisha, responsible for KSF. The minister remarked that the
force led by him has fulfilled its mandate, proving that it is
efficient and operational, Pristina-based daily newspaper 'Epoka
e Re' reported today. "This Force is ready to become an Army",
he said. Serbia is firmly opposed to the creation of regular
Kosovo Armed Forces. Belgrade does not recognise the
independence declared by Pristina on February 17, 2008, and
therefore the status of what Serbia continues to officially
consider its southern province with Albanian ethnic majority.
Nato and US are not opposed in principle, but they argue that in
order to create a regular Kosovar Army some constitutional
amendments need to be approved.(ANSA).
