(ANSA) - BELGRADE, AUGUST 23 - Romania (272 kg per person),
Poland (315 kg per person) and Czechia (344 kg per person) are
the European Union member countries that generate less municipal
waste per person, according to 2017 data made public by
Eurostat.
Low amounts of municipal waste were generated also in
Slovakia (378), Hungary (385), Estonia (390), Croatia (416) and
Bulgaria (435), all below the EU average, estimated at 486 kg
per person, 7% below the peak of 525 kg per person in 2002.
The EU Member States which generated the most municipal waste
per person in 2017 were Denmark (781 kg per person), followed by
Cyprus (estimated at 637 kg per person) and Germany (633 kg per
person), Eurostat added. (ANSA).
