(ANSA) - TRIESTE, JUNE 6 - This morning the new Eurowings
Cologne-Trieste route was inaugurated at Trieste airport, served
with 2 weekly flights, starting today until October 24.
The flight arriving from Cologne was welcomed by the
inaugural water angel organized by the Ronchi dei
Legionari-based fire brigade. On the occasion, the Eurowings
crew wanted to offer passengers the inaugural cake, served at
the airport gates.
The Trieste-Cologne-Trieste route is thus officially part of
the network of German destinations served by Trieste Airport,
including daily air connections to Frankfurt and Munich. "The
new flight to Cologne is a great opportunity not only for the
German and Italian tourist market but also for the business of
the many companies based in Friuli Venezia Giulia, which have a
trading relationship with Germany", commented Trieste Airport
CEO Marco Consalvo. "This new route confirms Trieste as a hub
between northeastern Italy and Germany, building a bridge with
an area which is rich in opportunities in terms of tourism and
economy".
"We are pleased to begin the collaboration with the airport
of Trieste, our 17th airport in Italy - said Roberta Monti,
general manager business development of Eurowings Group in Italy
- no other country except Germany, our home country, can count
on such a widespread presence of Eurowings. This shows that
Italy remains a crucial market for Germany's tourism sector".
The Cologne-Trieste-Cologne route is served by 2 weekly return
flights: on Thursdays leaving Trieste at 9.35am (arrival at
11.10am) and from Cologne at 7.25am (arrival at 8.55am) and on
Sundays from Trieste at 9.10am (arrival at 10.45am) and from
Cologne at 7 am (arrival, 8.30am). (ANSA).
