(ANSA) - BERLIN, JUNE 4 - The Federation of German Industries
harshly criticized the economic policy of the government led by
Chancellor Merkel. "It harms businesses," said the Bundesverband
der Deutschen Industrie (BDI) president Dieter Kempf, speaking
at the Industry Day.
According to Kempf, the big coalition, which is facing a
crisis due to the SPD in trouble, thinks about small-scale
social policies and an unhealthy level of redistribution.
"A large number of companies has lost confidence in the
government", said Kempf, urging the coalition to put aside the
internal disagreements of the coalition because "the economic
situation can prove difficult to manage and we are facing great
uncertainties, mainly due to commercial conflicts like the one
between USA and China". Then the president pointed the finger at
the "high tax burden on companies, which must endure the highest
energy prices in Europe". (ANSA).
