(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 8 - German industrial production
surprisingly rose for the second month in a row in March: a
light at the end of the tunnel for Europe's locomotive, affected
by the trade war and the difficulties in the automotive sector.
According to statistical office data, production rose (on a
monthly basis) by 0.5% against economists' forecasts (a 0.5%
drop), driven above all by consumption of goods and construction
sector (up 1%).
The rise in February was revised downwards to 0.4%. The
European Commission has halved, just like the German government
did a few days ago, the growth estimate for Germany bringing it
to 0.5% for 2019. (ANSA).
