Germany: Grosse Koalition talks continue on Europe

Dialogue initiated yesterday after "Jamaican" coalition failure

08 January, 15:06
(ANSA) - BERLIN, 08 GEN - The preliminary talks on the Grosse Koalition continue in Berlin this morning, in an attempt to give a government to Germany: Angela Merkel, Horst Seehofer and Martin Schulz will discuss about Europe, a matter that according to Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel should be a priority in a possible agreement program.

The group leaders of the CDU, Volker Kauder, and the SPD, Andrea Nahles, have already met at the Konrad-Adenauer-Haus. The talks, from which an agreement for a new executive should come out after the collapse of the talks between the Liberal Union and the Greens, were launched yesterday. The party leaders have indicated that they want to understand within 5 days whether it is possible to enter the next phase of the consultations.
