Germany: after tv duel, Schulz's SPD drops down to 21%

Social Democrats never so bad, Merkel's Union at 38%

(ANSA) - BERLIN - The TV duel between Martin Schulz and Angela Merkel was not so good for Germany's Social Democrats, who dropped in polls. According to ARD's Deutschlandtrend, Spd dropped to 21% of the vote this week, 22% according to ZDF's Political Barometer. Both values are below the SPD's record low in 2009: 23%, with Frank Walter Steinmeier running for chancellor.

According to ZDF poll, the Union gained a percentage point and reached 38%, Linke remained stable, at 9%, the Liberals lose 1% and AFD populists gained 1%. The Greens remained at 8%.(ANSA).
