Cerar, security and compliance with EU standards are crucial

(ANSA) - LJUBLJANA, SEPTEMBER 26 - The government in Ljubljana supports Croatia's entry into the Schengen area, but under certain conditions, Slovenian foreign minister Miro Cerar told Slovenian journalists attending the 74th UN General Assembly in New York. Croatia's entry into the Schengen area is also in Slovenia's economic interest, but Zagreb must meet the technical and security conditions and comply with European democratic and legal rules, said Cerar, who however refused to comment on the rumors circulating in the local media. According to some media, Croatia would get the EC's go-ahead to join the Schengen area on October 16. (ANSA)
