Tourism: Croatian coast third in EU for nights spent

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, SEPTEMBER 28 - The Croatian coast, with 74.2 million nights spent in 2016, is the third most popular region among tourists in the European Union, according to data made public by Eurostat today.

Coastal regions are popular tourist destinations for nights spent in tourist accommodation by domestic and international tourists, Eurostat said. The first most popular region, with almost 103 million nights spent in 2016, was the Spanish island region of Canarias, followed by Cataluna (80 million nights spent), while the Spanish Illes Balears was in fifth position, with almost 70 million nights spent. In the fourth place, the only non-coastal region in the top five: the French region of ×le de France, with 71 million nights. (ANSA).
