Gas: Bulgartransgaz resumes tender for pipeline to Serbia

The project has a 1.4 bn euro value

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 28 FEB - The Bulgarian gas network operator Bulgartransgaz has announced today that it has resumed the procedure for selecting a contractor for the procurement of materials and equipment and for the construction of a gas pipeline to the Bulgarian-Serbian border.

The procedure was recently suspended but now "all legal prerequisites are in place," Bulgartransgaz said in a statement, adding that the deadline for presenting the offers to participate in the tender is March 6, 2019.

The value of the tender is 1.4 billion euros and Russian pipe maker TMK could be interested in bidding for the construction of the 484 km gas pipeline from the Turkish-Bulgarian border to Serbia, the Bulgarian news agency Novinite reported, quoting Reuters. The future pipeline offers the possibility for Bulgaria to become a transit country for the gas passing through the Russian-backed TurkStream. (ANSA).
