Albania: boat carrying a ton of drugs, Italian man arrested
Joint Coast Guard raid between Tirana and Italy's GDF

(ANSA) - TIRANA - An Italian citizen was arrested by the
Albanian police today on board the ''Nano Nini'' sailboat,
flying Italy's flag, during a drug operation, which led to the
seizure of about 1 ton of marijuana. The boat was identified at
night near the coast of Valona, southern Albania, by the border
police radar. Units of the Albanian Coast Guard and of the
Italian Guardia di Finanza in Albania were engaged in the
pursuit of the sailing ship. The drug load was thrown into the
sea. So far, at least 90 large packages have been collected. On
board the boat, along with the Italian citizen whose general
information has not yet been reported, an Albanian man was
arrested, too. (ANSA).
