(ANSA) - MILAN, SEPTEMBER 8 - An area called ''Picnic of Science'', dedicated to the world of paper, was inagurated at Palazzo Italia, on Tuesday and will remain open until September 27. Science experts will hold brief ''lessons'' to teach children and paper-enthusiasts that paper is first and foremost a sustainable and environmentally-friendly material. The initiative was supported by the Genova Science Festival in conjunction with Assocarta, Bergamo Science and City of Science.

"Paper technology might be a silent presence, but it is also a continuous one in daily life, it couldn't be missed at EXPO 2015" said Assocarta director general, Massimo Medugno. Fabriano paper master Sandro Tiberi illustrated the paper art at Palazzo Italia.

Fabriano has boasted and ancient hand-made paper production for centuries and it contributed to EXPO with paper with a watermarked Padiglione Italia logo. (ANSA).
