(ANSA) - SIRACUSA, APRIL 20 - The Siracusa branch of the
National Institute of Bio-Architecture (INBAR) has launched a
digital platform for Expo Milano 2015.
The Mediterranean diet and natural beauty is the unifying
thread running through the five sustainable architecture
itineraries created by INBAR Siracusa to showcase unique
traditions and creativity in technological innovation in the
south-eastern district.
The five itineraries include a range of cultural options
and opportunities for sustainable tourism.
In combining the material and the immaterial, one journey
begins from the Thapsos site, one of the most important sites of
Sicilian protohistory, with the 'In Flight over Priolo'
itinerary, which shows cultural and natural heritage of the area
with a look at the existing biodiversity.
The itineraries pass through organic farms involved in
producing traditional delicacies of the Hyblaean Mountains:
bread, honey, marmalade and cheeses.
In another itinerary, the 'Paths of Wheat' are explored,
with watermills producing flour types traditionally from
southeastern Sicily.
Centuries-old citrus groves that stand guard over ancient
ruins, temples, villas and small treasures of unplanned
architecture, homes jutting out from rocks in valleys with
springs and waterways are instead in the 'The Mediterranean
Garden', while the heritage of rural villages are explored in
the 'Oil Mills, Wine Presses and Tuna Traps'. (ANSA).
