Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio on
Monday met the mayor of a Ukrainian town occupied by Russian
forces who was abducted in march and released in a prisoner
exchange.
The foreign minister met Melitopol Mayor Ivan Fedorov at the
foreign ministry in Rome along with a Ukrainian parliamentary
delegation.
"Yet again we are faced with accounts from which a tragic
picture emerges," said Di Maio.
"We will continue to do our utmost to stop the atrocities in
Ukraine".
Fedorov was taken prisoner by Russian troops in his town in
southeastern Ukraine on March 11.
He was released in a prisoner exchange on March 17.
