Two Juventus fans were acquitted
Tuesday of making Fascist salutes and singing the Fascist song
'Me Ne Frego' (I Don't Give A Damn) outside San Siro ahead of
Milan-Juve in October 2022.
Their lawyers said the acquittals reflected a supreme court
ruling that Fascist salutes are not criminally liable if they do
not represent a concrete risk of reforming the Fascist party.
The ultras were prosecuted under a 1993 law against
discrimination and hate crimes.
The high Court of Cassation said in explaining its ruling
recently that 'Roman' salutes were in fact against the law even
if they were merely commemorative, reversing an initial
interpretation of the verdict.
