The number of requests for help made
to Italy's national anti-violence and stalking hotline 1522 have
more than doubled in the last two days following the femicide of
22-year-old Giulia Cecchettin, the public service said on
Wednesday.
Calls to the 24-hour helpline, promoted by the Presidency of the
Council of Ministers - Department for Equal Opportunities and
run by Differenza Donna, have risen from 200 to 400 per day,
with peaks for between 450 and 500 including requests for help
received via the chatbox and App.
More calls have come in from teenagers, but also from concerned
parents, especially mothers.
