The leader of the centre-left
opposition Democratic Party (PD) Elly Schlein has called Premier
Giorgia Meloni "regarding the possibility of finding common
ground for taking a step forward" in preventing gender-based
violence" in Italy, the PD said on Wednesday.
The news came after ANSA reported that there had been "contacts"
between the two leaders on the issue of violence against women
amid public dismay over the brutal femicide of 22-year-old
student Giulia Cecchettin by her ex boyfriend Filippo Turetta on
November 11.
