The Italian Coast Guard on Friday
sent out a vessel to rescue a migrant boat in distress
approximately 130 miles from the southern Sicilian coastal town
of Pozzallo.
The boat could be the one flagged earlier by Alarm Phone
allegedly carrying around 500 people.
The prefect's offices in Siracusa, Catania and Messina have
reportedly been put on stand by to provide reception for the
rescued refugees and migrants.
