World number two Jannik Sinner said
Friday he was not 100% after a recent hip issue ahead of his
debut at Roland Garros against world number 43 Chris Eubanks of
the USA but the French Open was very important in his quest to
overtake Serb GOAT Novak Djokovic at the top of the world
rankings.
"I decided to play because Roland Garros is a very important
tournament," said the 22-year-old South Tyrolean ace at a press
conference ahead of his clash with 28-year-old Eubanks on
Monday.
"It's a slam and I want to be part of it if my body permits.
"The condition is not 100% but we can't do magic.
"The hip doesn't worry me. I'm confident: I'll get better and
better. But even at the level of condition that I have now, I
know I can play good tennis".
Sinner has beaten Djokovic thrice including on his way to the
Australian Open in January.
