(ANSA) - Milan, October 2 - The Italian League Against
Cancer (LILT) was at Expo's Cascina Triulza Civil Society
pavilion on Friday to promote the fight against breast cancer
during the group's national Pink Ribbon day.
"Nowadays we're able to cure 85% of (patients), but we
could get to 98%," said Francesco Schittulli, national LILT
president.
This would entail using advanced imaging technology, and
making sure every woman over 40 had a breast exam, ultrasound,
mammogram and MRI, he said.
"Diagnosing a tumor when it's still very small allows us to
win the battle, and we're aiming at getting to a 100% cure
rate," he said.
Italian model Anna Falchi and TV host Emanuela Foliero were
on hand as spokeswomen for the day's schedule of events, parades
and debates, all of which will focus on breast cancer prevention
as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
