Stellantis on Wednesday told trade
unions that production activity at the Mirafiori body shop plant
will be suspended for the whole of May.
Unions reacted negatively to his latest suspension of work at
the Italo-Franco-US carmaker's Italian plants.
"One thinks one has scraped the bottom of the barrel and instead
there is never an end to the worst," commented Edi Lazzi,
secretary general of Fiom in Turin.
"This stoppage of an entire month is yet another slap in the
face to the workers and the city of Turin, with inevitable
repercussions on the supply chain.
"It is the demonstration that a single model for Mirafiori is
not enough and that corollary departments, such as engine
component recycling, hybrid gearboxes and battery testing are
not decisive".
