Petrol prices have fallen to their
lowest level since February, sector publication Staffetta
Quotidiana said Friday as many Italians geared to drive off for
their summer holidays this weekend.
On the eve of the last big summer exodus, fuel prices at the
pump continue to fall, as the international price of petrol
marks the third consecutive rise and the price of diesel falls
slightly again, it said.
The national average price of petrol is at its lowest level
since 5 February, and that of diesel since 18 June.
Prices at motorway service stations are now on average higher
than in the ordinary network by about nine cents per litre on
self-service petrol and almost eleven cents on diesel.
For a full tank of 80 litres of diesel you spend on average
almost 19 euros more on the motorway.
If one differentiates between the price for self-service on the
motorway and self-service on the ordinary network, the
difference on petrol is as much as 36 cents per litre: for a
80-litre fill-up the motorway surcharge rises to almost 29
euros.
