Four police officers were hurt in
clashes with protesters trying to get into a major conference on
boosting Italy's birth rate just as Pope Francis was about to
address it in Rome on Friday.
One of the protesters, a young woman, was hit on the head and
taken away in an ambulance.
'Transfeminist' student protesters on Thursday shouted down
Family and Birth Rate Minister Eugenia Roccella at the event,
the States General on Natality.
They have been angered by the government's recent move to allow
pro-life activists into abortion clinics.
In their protest Thursday, they raised a placard saying "I
decide" (over my body).
