(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 13 - Dutchman Koen Bouwman won the seventh
stage of the Giro d'Italia Friday and Spain's Juan Pedro Lopez
Perez kept the leader's pink jersey.
The stage was a 196km run from Diamante (Cosenza) to Potenza.
Bouwman won a four-man sprint beating fellow countryman Bauke
Mollema by two seconds with Italy's Davide Formolo third with
the same time and another Dutchman, Tom Dumoulin, fourth at 19".
The peloton, led by Germany's Lennard Kamna, came in 2'59"
behind the winner.
"I'm over the moon," said a tearful Bouwman, who also won three
of the four mountain grands prix on a stage with an altitude
difference of 4,510 metres, snagging the blue jersey for best
climber.
Lopez Perez said "it wasn't easy to keep the pink jersey, but
with the help of the team we put ourselves in an ideal
condition, we played it extremely well tactically....it's s
dream to wear this incredible jersey". (ANSA).
