(ANSAmed) - TEL AVIV, 27 LUG - Concern is growing in Israel
over the spread of Covid after more than two thousand infections
were recorded on Monday, a total of 2.3% of over 90,000 tests, a
record figure in recent months.
At the same time, the number of seriously ill patients rose
to 138, which is double compared to last week.
On Monday, health authorities imposed new restrictions at Tel
Aviv's Ben Gurion airport, in particular banning the entry of
visitors into the departure and arrival halls to avoid
contagion.
In addition, the director general of the health ministry
Nahman Ash announced he is considering giving a third dose of
Pfizer vaccine to those over 60, even before a formal
authorization by the US Food and Drug Administration.
In the meantime, at the urging of Prime Minister Naftali
Bennett, a vaccination campaign concentrated in the youth
population is moving forward, one month prior to the reopening
of schools.
In the last two days, vaccinations with a first or a second
dose totaled 40,000. (ANSAmed).
