Madonna kicks off 60th birthday celebration in Marrakech

Queen of pop holds three days of celebrations

(ANSAmed) - RABAT, AUGUST 16 - Madonna chose Instagram on Wednesday to announce celebrations for her 60th birthday, which is today.
In the photo, she is seen in Amazigh dress, which is worn by the ancient Berber peoples who live in Morocco.
"Today I am wearing a cake on my head, two more days," she wrote, followed by celebration emojis.
The pop star, who was born on August 16, 1958 in Bay City, Michigan, near Detroit, brought about 50 of her friends to Marrakech, in one of the most exclusive locations in the city's medina: Vanessa Branson's traditional Moroccan riad.
Branson is the sister of Virgin Group founder Richard Branson.
Madonna's Instagram account documents her steps - at night, walks in Bab Laksour, with the muezzin calling the faithful to prayer in the background.
She takes pictures of walls and small alleys, while she walks in the area near the riad, where she sleeps and where she awaits her guests.
The luxury hotel is an ancient palace in the historic centre, transformed into the contemporary art gallery of its owner, who founded the Marrakech Biennale.
In one of the hotel's suites, Madonna furnishes a set for a wake-up portrait.
On a canopy bed, the queen of pop is portrayed being served a tray of fruit juices and Moroccan sweets.
Next to her, however, are also her cell phone, from which she is inseparable, as well as four bottles of wine.
The portrait is completed by saffron-yellow walls and fire-red nightstands. Once again, the incorrigible non-conformist mixes the sacred and the profane: alcohol in Islam territory and the mystical charm of prayer, just steps from the Koutubia, the city's main mosque.(ANSAmed).
