The European Commission on Tuesday
blasted Moscow's decision to put the Russian subsidiary of
Italian heating firm Ariston under the "temporary management" of
Gazprom and echoed Italy's call for the move to be reversed.
The Italian government on Monday told Russia's Ambassador to
Italy Alexei Paramonov that Moscow must revoke the decision
regarding Ariston Thermo Rus and a German company, Bosch
engineering.
"This act by the Russian regime is just further proof of the
contempt Moscow has for international law," said Peter Stano,
the Commission's spokesperson for foreign affairs and security
policy.
"It is an unpredictable actor. It has created an arbitrary,
hostile financial climate. "What kind of credibility can Russia
have in the economic sector?
"We call on Russia to revoke these measures immediately.
"The EU is monitoring the situation to evaluate what steps to
take"
