In the wake of Friday's horrific
attack in Moscow, Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio
Tajani on Saturday pointed out that the Italian government had
warned of the risk of terror attacks in Russia earlier this
month.
"There are 2,700 Italians residing in Moscow, according to the
foreign ministry's register. We have no news of any Italians
involved," Tajani said.
"The foreign ministry, together with our diplomatic
representation in Moscow, on March 8 called on Italians not to
take part in events with large numbers of people in Moscow
because the Russian police had arrested members of a jihadist
terrorist cell, so there was danger of attacks in Moscow".
