Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di
Maio said Wednesday that Italy would continue to work to help
preserve Ukraine's territorial integrity amid Russian invasion
fears.
"We will continue to work to support the territorial integrity
and sovereignty of Ukraine and to liaise with our partners and
allies to ensure a firm, cohesive and proportionate response to
any eventual violation," said the minister, according to foreign
ministry sources.
He stressed that "Italy's action is firmly aimed at favouring a
diplomatic solution and a de-escalation of tensions."
As for relations with Moscow, Di Maio said "a balanced approach
is needed, aimed at firmness on principles and values, and at
dialogue" to ease tensions.
