An Italian citizen was among
the 189 people aboard the Lion Air flight that crashed into the
sea shortly after takeoff from Jakarta's airport on Monday,
airline told a news conference, according to the Associated
Press.
The Italian victim was identified as Andrea Manfredi, 26,
from Marina di Massa in Tuscany, a former professional cyclist.
Manfredi rode for Ceramica Flaminia in 2013 and for Bardiani
CSF for the next two years before setting up a bicycle and
sporting goods company, Sportek.
He had been in Jakarta since October 26, a stage of a trip
that started in Hong Kong.
Manfredi's last Facebook post shows him posing in cycling
gear beside a bike.
His trip also aimed to promote his business.
