The funeral was held on Sunday of the
mother and daughter killed by Israeli sniper fire in the Latin
parish of the Holy Family in Gaza on Saturday.
Sources said the funeral took place "in an atmosphere full of
fear and sadness" and that "no relatives were able to reach the
church for the final farewell".
In addition, two of the seven people injured in the attack by
Israeli defence forces reportedly need urgent medical treatment
as their condition is life-threatening, "but the Red Cross is
unable to transfer them to the nearest hospital because the
complex is still surrounded by snipers and it is considered too
dangerous".
Pope Francis mentioned the two women casualties in his Angelus
blessing in the Vatican on Sunday morning and renewed his appeal
for peace.
