An Italian bishop set his alarm wrong
and missed the traditional midnight Mass on Christmas Eve he was
supposed to have celebrated, the prelate admitted the day after.
Mons. Corrado Pizziolo, bishop of Vittorio Veneto near Treviso
in Veneto, told the faithful he was very sorry to have let them
down.
He said he had mistakenly set the alarm for ten to 11 in the
morning instead of ten to eleven at night after deciding to have
a snooze after supper.
"At a certain point I heard a knock on the door and an assistant
came in, worried that I may have had a bad turn," he said.
It was too late to get to the service, which was celebrated by
diocesan liturgy office chief don Mirco Miotto in Pizziolo's
place.
