Pope Francis on Monday
launched a new code for contracts and tenders in the Vatican
aimed at introducing greater transparency.
The new 98-article legislation assumes the principles of the
United Nations Convention Against Corruption and replaces all
other laws in the sector.
The new norms "will enable us to significantly reduce the
danger of corruption by those responsible for managing the
Agencies and Bodies of the Holy See and the Vatican City State,
Francis said.
He said that fair competition and transparency will also
enable "a better management of the resources that the Holy See
runs in order to achieve the ends that are proper to the
Church".
