Pope Francis on
Thursday received Diego Maradona for the second time in four
days.
Francis, a supporter of Buenos Aires club San Lorenzo, gave
Maradona and his party rosaries before embracing the Argentina
great warmly as he took his leave.
On Monday the pope received his famous compatriot and other
current and former stars set to play in that night's
Interreligious Match for Peace at the Stadio Olimpico, organised
by the Vatican and educational and sporting groups.
Maradona, whose famous brace including the 'Hand of God'
goal and the goal of the century sank England at the 1986 World
Cup, is a devoted churchgoer.
