Reigning European champions Italy are
dying to show who they are in their second Euro 2024 Group B
match against Spain Thursday after their 2-1 opening win over
Albania, Azzurri coach Luciano Spalletti told a pre-match press
conference Wednesday.
"I want to see an Italy that repeats the good performance of the
first match: in front of us we will have Spain, one of the best
football schools in the world, but we have a crazy desire to
show that our team is also important," said the former Napoli
scudetto winning manager.
"The key," he added, speaking to Sky, "is always good play and
keeping the ball.
"Even if with Spain that presses high and keeps its defensive
line high, you need some more verticalisation.
"You win by verticalising the game."
Italy play their final group game on Monday against Croatia,
which was beaten 3-0 by Spain last Saturday.
