Italy have already registered their best-ever showing at a European Athletics Championships with the action at Rome 2024 having only just reached the half-way mark.
The Azzurri claimed 13 medals in the first three days of the championships, which run until Wednesday, including seven golds.
That beats the previous best team effort at the 1990 European Championships in Split, when Italy won 12 medals, including five golds.
Italy's double Olympic sprint champion Marcell Jacobs led the charge, retaining his European 100m title with a time of 10.02 seconds.
Another Olympic champion, Antonella Palmisano, spearheaded an Italian one-two in the 20km women's race walk ahead of her team mate Valentina Trapletti, while Nadia Battocletti triumphed in the women's 5,000m.
Yemaneberhan Crippa won the men's half-marathon ahead of fellow Italian Pietro Riva, helping Italy to win the team gold in the process.
Leonardo Fabbri won the men's shot put and 22-year-old Lorenzo Simonelli blew away the field in the 110 metres hurdles.
19-year-old Mattia Furlani claimed the silver in the long jump.
With many of the medal-winning athletes coming from multicultural backgrounds, the championships have been a chance for Italy to celebrate its diversity, as well as its sporting excellence.
