Tuesday's 16th stage of the Giro
d'Italia has been shortened by about 40 km due to heavy snowfall
and a high risk of avalanches in the Dolomites, organisers said.
The Cima Coppi or high point of the race has been moved from the
Stelvio Pass at 2,757 metres, where the road is covered in thick
snow, to Giogo di Santa Maria, at 2,489 metres.
Due to heavy snow the start has been moved fom Livigno to Prati
dello Stelvio.
Slovenian two-time Tour de France winner and two-time runner-up
Tadej Pogacar is dominating the race.
