Lazio have reached an agreement in
principle for Igor Tudor to take over the Rome side after
Maurizio Sarri quit as coach this week, according to ANSA
sources.
There are still some details to be worked out and these will be
finalized after Saturday's visit to Frosinone in Serie A, the
sources said.
The 45-year-old former Croatia and Juventus defender is a much
travelled coach whose former sides include Hajduk Split,
Galatasaray, Udinese and Hellas Verona.
His last job was at Olympique de Marseille, who he led to a
third-placed finish in the French top flight last season.
Sarri quit on Tuesday following Monday's night's 2-1 home defeat
to relegation-threatened Udinese.
Lazio's third consecutive league defeat, their fourth in all
competitions following last week's 3-0 loss at Bayern Munich
that saw them exit the Champions League in the last 16, leaves
them ninth in the Serie A standings with 40 points with 10 games
to go, meaning their chances of qualifying for European
competition next season are not good.
The club have put Sarri's assistant Giovanni Martusciello in
charge as caretaker coach for the moment.
