Inter Milan on Tuesday paid tribute
to Andreas Brehme after the former Germany full-back died of a
heart attack at the age of 63.
Alongside compatriots Lothar Matthäus and Jürgen Klinsmann,
Brehme played for Inter from 1988 to 1992, helping them win the
1988-89 Serie A title and the 1990-91 UEFA Cup, among other
things.
"FC Internazionale Milano and the entire Inter family are deeply
saddened by the passing of Andreas Brehme and send their deepest
condolences to his family," the Serie A leaders said in a
statement.
"The German great played for Inter from 1988 to 1992, making 154
appearances for the Club, scoring twelve goals and winning one
scudetto, one UEFA Cup and one Supercoppa Italiana.
"In his honour, the Nerazzurri will wear a black armband during
tonight's (Champions League) game against Atlético Madrid".
Brehme also scored the penalty that gave Germany a 1-0 victory
over Argentina in Italia 90 World Cup final.
