Newcastle are collaborating with a
Football Association probe into Italy midfielder Sandro Tonali's
illicit betting, which has already earned him a 10-month ban
from Italian soccer authorities, the Magpies' Sporting Director
Dan Ashworth said Friday.
Tonali, 23, also got an eight month accessory sanction too from
the Italian Soccer Federation, in which he will have to tell
young people not to do what he did.
He admitted betting on illicit platforms and even on his former
club AC Milan.
The FA probe may inflict further sanctions on the Lodi-born
attacking midfielder if more irregularities are established,
judicial sources said.
Newcastle and Milan have said they will help Tonali and others
incuding Juve and Italy midfielder Niccolò Fagioli and Aston
Villa and Italy forward Niccolò Zaniolo with their gambling
addicctions.
