DIGOS security police opened a probe
Tuesday after a 58-year-old Newcastle fan was stabbed in a
confrontation with some 7-8 persons around midnight Monday ahead
of Tuesday's opening Champions League group stage game against
AC Milan at the San Siro.
The special branch said they were investigating to see if the
incident was caused by soccer rivalry or other reasons.
The man, who has not been named, was stabbed once in the back
and twice in the arms.
He was taken to the Policlinico Hospital where he he is not in a
serious condition, medical sources said.
