Italian Golf Federation President
Franci Chimenti told ANSA 100 days before the start of the Ryder
Cup in Rome on September 29 to October 1 that he hoped 2018 Open
winner Francesco Molinari gets wild card so he can have a chance
to repeat his heroics for Team Europe in Paris in 2018 that saw
him become the first European to win five points from five
matches.
"Chicco has suffered a drop in form but now he's coming back to
Europe and I hope he can get a wild card," said Chimenti at an
ANSA Forum.
He also said Italian No 1 Guido Migliozzi was in with a chance
to land a place on the team to take on Team USA at the Marco
Simone Golf & Country Club outside the Italian capital this
autumn.
Chimenti added that "this year's Ryder Cup will be the most
important edition ever" and will greatly boost Italian golf.
"It will be a unique spectacle with great knock-on effects," he
said.
