Morocco's Taoufik Allam won the men's
race in the 2023 Rome marathon on Sunday with a time of two
hours, seven minutes and 43 seconds, while Kenya's Betty
Chepkwony was the first woman to cross the finish line before
the Colosseum in a time of 2:23:01.
Allam came home before Kenyans Wilfred Kigen and Rogers Keror on
a cool cloudy day in the Italian capital.
Ethiopian athletes Fozya Jemal Amid and Zinash Getachew
completed the women's podium.
Neka Crippa was Italy's top performer, coming sixth in the men's
race, while his compatriots Stefano La Rosa and Alessandro
Giacobazzi came eighth and ninth respectively.
