Business and Made in Italy Minister
Adolfo Urso on Thursday summoned pay-TV company DAZN to the
ministry next Thursday to explain why there had been an
"umpteenth" interruption to their service to subscribers,
depriving soccer fans of several minutes of the Serie A
table-topping clash between Inter and Napoli Wednesday night.
"To safeguard consumers I have called the top brass of the DAZN
company to the ministry on January 12," he said.
Minister for Sport Andre Abodi and the top execs of Serie A will
also be present.
"The continuation of the poor service makes it essential that we
clear up the action which the company plans to take, investments
in the network and technology, in order to meet users' needs",
said Urso.
Consumer group UDICON said its members were "fed up with the
under par service of DAZN", which has suffered similar blackouts
on its streaming platform including, most recently, key legs of
the world darts championship final in which England's Michael
Smith neat Dutch great Michael van Gerwen.
Fourth-placed Inter beat longtime frontrunners Napoli 1-0 on an
Edin Dzeko header to cut the Partenopei's lead over AC Milan to
five points.
